Haih.....

i guess that could be our final check up before next appointment at Emergency & Accident, then to labour room on the 11th. i felt a little bit weird meeting the doctor this time. maybe because of Abi wasn't there so i lost my word or maybe because i was very tired due to my unpleasent sleep caused by minor diarrhea the nite before. but the meeting was very plain and i felt 'it wasn't fully utilized'. luckily we dont have to pay any cent!

dr awang gave us another appoinment next week, which i guess it could be the door to welcome you here, and have your official name :D he's gonna perform CTG on you and check my dilation and asked me to come with Abi :D very supportive and understanding-lah the doctor, willing to wait until Abi comes back here for the procedures.

this week, i didn't gain weight. still 55kg :D wow! so happy OK! and his comment was "you don't build any fat. what you have on your big tummy is only the baby, not your own fat" :D well doc, i am 4kg lighter than my targeted weight! :P soo happy like wanna jump! thank you dear for absorbing all my calories :D

and because of that, i have to pay for it. your very effective weight gain and growth! 300gms in a week, dr awang said, the maximum healthy weight a fetus should gain :) despite my puasa and not-so-high-appetite, you're progressing very well. Mommy & Abi wanted you to be born smaller than 3kgs, now you're already 3.1kg.... don't you know that this makes Abi worry coz he afraid if i have to undergo c-section. and so does my mom. but i told them.. other moms gave birth to more than 4kgs babies vaginally and they have no problem with that. and according to the doctor, size is not a driver to c-section, provided the baby's position is posterior, not a breech one, the placenta's location is at the upper side and there's no other complication that needs for operation such as baby's heartbeat is unstable, baby already passing meconium, dried amniotic fluid, etc.

and you position is very good, posterior with the matured placenta placed next to your bottom and my left rib. you are already engaged, the amniotic fluid's index is 14.1 which is very good and your movement is OK. i hope that you're happy laying in my womb until next week :) dr awang said "buah dah ranum sgt dah tp xnak gugur jugak" :P i told him, "dia nk tunggu ayah dia balik dulu" :)

and he said, the only method to induce labor is having frequent sex. and the walking2, running2, jumping2 are not in medical proven list :D. this gonna be next week's agenda.

alhamdulillah, up to this point, i still can perform my obligation as a Muslim during this Ramadhan. i got many sms-es from friends and aunties asking about my puasa but yet alhamdulillah i have no reason to stop fasting. i don't feel too tired (i guess if i'm not fasting, i still will feel tired. it is very common these days), and your condition is OK. despite my fasting, you're still gaining maximum weight per week. and the amniotic fluid's index is normal. not too high and not too low. i hope i can keep on fasting until the end of the month.

my feeling? it's a real suspense. however, i already packed the hospital bag. just in case... but it is really miserable to me if you don't listen to us ;( i really want Abi to be there, when the labor starts and when you head comes.

i can't wait for next week. Abi's journey from Miri on the 10th started at 4.30pm, and ETA at Pengkalan Chepa at 11pm (considering the delay & whatnot). the next morning, at 8.30am we have to be at PSH for the test, and thus the decision of when you're gonna be born :) remember our promise, on the 13th OK!

Counting...

i'm not counting the day to give birth, nor counting the day to become Mommy, but counting the day to have Abi here again.

since Abi went to Miri yesterday, this room is so empty. without someone who always willing to lend his hand when i need to get up from bed. hehe. without someone i can talk to. without someone i can channel my complaints. without someone i can share everything. etc.

we are about to enter the period of 10th last nite of Ramadhan. but in my calendar is 10 empty days before we have Abi here again :)

currently, i'm not in the mood of talking about pregnancy. could this be emotion in late pregnancy? i really don't like the question such "bila nk bersalin?" or "bila nk meletop" or any of the kind. if "bila due?" or "bila jangka?" are still acceptable. maybe because we had set in our brain that the delivery should be during the 13th, so it gives me a little pressure to think about when the labor should started. looking at my current condition and look, the elders are 'betting' among them that i'm not gonna hold this pregnancy on until the Eid. but i am very positive that labor won't start unless Abi is here with me, and it's at the end of Ramadhan.

even if all the materials are here already (wish i could upload the piccas but this pc is infected by virus & i dont want to take risk of it may affects my camera's memory card) but i haven't pack for my hospital bag. even worse, no bag at all! haha. look how i'm not ready to welcome a baby before the 13th. 13th, is very significant to us. others maybe think that we wanna have a 'Raya Baby', but it's nothing to do with Raya. let the Raya comes earlier or later, but we are very excited about the number, 13. maybe it looks silly, or even disgusting, but we really wanna make ours a 'FAMILY OF 13'. i was born on 13th june, Abi on 13th september, and we want Baby H to have his DOB on the october 13!

the situation is promising, i guess. no sign of labor, no more stomach cramp, i can sleep heavily everytime i want to. and my itching tummy is getting better. thanks to Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula for Dry, Itchy Skin! after using non-greasy oil, miracle-ly, the itchiness has almost gone. and it's very easy to apply. just spray it on the effected area, do a simple massage and... taraaa!!! (if only i discovered this thing earlier..).

i really want to announce Baby H's full name, but the MoU says i have to wait until he's born. actually i have an idea if he's born during Eid, i want to add a word before his name, to indicate that he's born during the fest. not Syawal, Aidil or Fitri. i said, they are all AFians! hehe. if it's happen, Baby H would have 2 words in his name :) but i dunno Abi will agree or not.

this is a miracle actually, until i could post this entry. i tried for 2 days to logon to the net, i am online but wasn't able to open any website. but tonite, surprisingly it works! maybe the virus is inactive at nite.. :P

we're gonna meet dr awang on wednesday. hopefully good news are waiting for us! but not the delivery!

Can't You Wait for Another 2 and Half Week?

it was our very first meeting with dr awang nila, i would say, a senior o&g specialist of the very perdana specialist hospital (PSH). he is a very friendly guy, very senior,i think about my dad's age. and an hour session with him provided us (Mommy&Abi) lots of info (some we never came across neither from readings nor the stories of others). and he looked like a teacher, drew diagrams & graphs, wrote on papers, showed us this & that...

his first question was about the EDD. we told him that it supposed to be in 13th october. he drew a line, marked it with 13/10=40wks and where we are now, 37wks 4days. he said, the best time for a preggy mother to give birth is at her 38weeks, and he stated, for me it should be on the 29th. a 38weeks fetus is matured enough to be born, and he said, if i had any problem like breech baby or any pregnancy-induced desease, he would let you out at our 38weeks. and for a test tube baby, in any case, at 38 weeks, he'll be born. furthermore, when i told him your last week's weight was 2.5kg, he said, if you gan 300grm per week, you're gonna be very big for me. in average, a normal baby should be 3kg above, but for me, he said i am too petite for a normal size baby. he expected you to be a small baby, but he said over and over again "this is not gonna be a small baby". an average, is not necessarily applies to everybody. like when we buy a shirt, i may fit S size, but my friends may not. some may fit M, L, XL or even XXL. measuring a healthy pregnancy is not relative to baby's weight alone but also mom's size. but at these weeks, he said it is impossible to control your weight, since you are already developing your own fat and carbohydrate.

the, we went to the ultrasound couch. and it was proven that you are big :) 2.8kg, my limit! again, he mentioned about our uncompatible sizes... duh! he showed us your big scrotum, caused by your abdomen fluid which was not cleared, but he said it's normal and no need to worry. just, you'll be born with a big scrotum. huhu. but there was some good news. your position was perfect, the placenta was posterior, amniotic fluid was 14 (should range 8-18), and you're 1/5 engaged! and the matured placenta, meaning you're ready to be born at anytime...

dr awang told us about what to do, if the signs of labor appear. a normal labor should start with 'show' or mucus+blood would come out, followed by painful, rhytmitic contraction, every 60mins, every 30mins.... until it getting more frequent up to every 2 minutes. i shouldn't be at the hospital if the mucus appear, but wait until the contraction comes in every 10 minutes. he said, some women get the 'show' and only 3 days after the contraction started. and he didn't want to keep me in the ward for nothing, hehe. and another sign of abnormal labor, is the water break. if this happen, i should rush to the hospital, cos when the water break, meaning the risk of infection to you is high. anything from outside might goes in the uterus and affect you. so, if this happen, even of without pain, he need me to be in the hospital immediately.

and he had another point of view about epidural. he said, his usual practise is not giving epidural in instant, but only after looking at the mother's condition. if the mother needs pain relief, he may provides the etonox or injection. then only if she can't cope with them, he'll call the anaesthetic for epidural. and as well as the baby's position, if there's no need for forcep or vacuum, he doesn't suggest epidural. we asked about the risk, he said 1 in a million is paralyse. and 1 in a hundred is severe headache, if the epidural doesn't hit the right place on the spine, causing spinal fluid to come out. and there's never 100% of succeed, even if it is done by the most specialist in the world.

for episiotomy, he said, the routine practise is, every first time mom should go for episiotomy, but currently they changed the routine. if there's no need for episiotomy, he won't cut my perineum! unless if there's need for forcep, vacuum or oversized baby that may cause severe tear to the mother. phew, big relief for Abi. as possible as it could, he doesn't want any part of my body to be cut :D

but i still feel a bit worry, cos dr awang said that, labor will come at anytime. after all, you are in your position, plus you are big, and heavy. actually we really want you to be born on the 13th october... but if you decide to come earlier, hmmm.. what can i do than letting you, but just make sure it happens when Abi is still with us OK (Abi's going back to Miri on the 30th).

back from the hospital, we went for shopping again :) we got what we still had in our list: detergent for your wardrobe, your bottles' cleanser, your towels, disposable diapers, my maternity pads, disposable panties and post-natal supplement. i add vita E, zinc and alfalfa for post-natal beside what i currently take. i should be ready for labor at anytime, so no more 'wait' to have everything perfect in the hospital bag.

i'm not sure about my feeling now. excited? afraid? blank? hmmm.. i have no idea. if only i can decide.. i would make your DOB on 13th october, but this is not my job now.. it's you (definitely it's Allah's job)! so i just.. waiting for your arrival :) but again please don't let me be alone in the labor room. i need Abi with me OK. :)

baby, can't you wait for another two and half week?

Bye Bye Miri....

my 36++ weeks belly.

today is our last day in Miri. my last day at work.. i would say, hectic & a bit tense.the project i am handling suddenly came into chaos when we have to do the tendering ourselves instead, before this we agreed to source it out to other region. and my boss insisted me to do a presentation in management committee meeting next monday. i said, sorry boss. after all, this is my final week to get rid of these. but, still happy. i'm leaving for a long vacation after all :)

today we had visitors, uncle Wan Hidayat came to my office & dropped by my workstation to say hello. he had a presentation in the auditorium. hehe. cool presenter, huh? Cik Adda also visited us this morning, and she gave this lovely socks to you :)

thanks Cik Adda!

we left the office a bit late since Abi had a meeting with the GM. so, when will Abi be a GM? hm, i hope he's gonna be one, but at other company la. hehe. we bought ikan terubuk masin to bring back. so expensive!!! they said the fish is pupus currently. RM12 for two, instead of RM10 for three.

we don't have much things to bring onboard. just my & Abi's wardrobe, plus some little things of yours. most importantly, these document those should not be forgotten.

CW: the ticket, the antenatal record or red card, the passport.

some friends asked me about air travel. the FAQ are "isn't it only at 7months you are allowed to travel by plane?" "still can travel by plane with this big tummy?" "how can you travel by plane, you're heavily pregnant?" and many more.

actually, air travel is usually completely safe for pregnant women, as long as there are no complications with the pregnancy and not flying too close to the due date. after all, our flight is not that long. as per 2nd trimester is honeymoon phase, so it is the safest time to travel by air. at 1st trimester, the risk of miscarriage increases and at 3rd trimester, increasing the risk of early labor. however, normal practice for Malaysia Airlines, from 28 to 36 week, a doctor's letter is required to state that i am fit for air travel :) so, after 7 months still can fly, with a letter form doctor.

the letter.

i miss Abi already.... we have only a week to spend with him, and later for almost 3 months.. it's only you & i. i really want to make this coming week the most memorable moment for us, before your arrival. and when we get together with Abi again, everything would be different. we are parents sooner!

three of us with someone in invisible mode.

MAY ALLAH BLESS OUR BACK-HOME JOURNEY & END THIS PREGNANCY JOURNEY WITH FULL OF JOY & BLISS.

Final Check Up With Dr Aida!

i should bring my camera then...

today was our last check up with Dr. Aida at Columbia Asia. next week, we'll follow up with Dr. Awang Nila at Hospital Pakar Perdana! can't wait to be there!

Dr Aida asked about my UTI, alhamdulillah it was OK then. my KPI is to finish up 3L mineral water per nite and as a result, beside curing my UTI i also have to wake up every hour to pee-pee. but it is not big deal, at least i'm able to wake up before 4.00am to prepare for sahur.

i asked Dr Aida about my ability to puasa, she said no problem. i have no problem with myself, not feeling tired nor any sign of sickness, and your condition is good. plus, the amniotic fluid is at normal rate and your movement is active as usual (unless the day Mommy overslept & terlepas sahur, you didn't move the whole day. really worry you know!). Dr Aida advised me to puasa until the day of delivery. alhamdulillah. finally i feel so motivated to perform my puasa without worrying about your condition.

for labour, Dr Aida recommended to take epidural. wah, this is a good news for Abi. he really wants me to get that pain-free medium. then i told Abi, we'll see.. look if my condtion says i'm gonna need it... we'll make an appointment with the anesthetic, if my dilation is very poor, just gimme that epidural. if not, let me bear with the pain. huhu. will i?

when Dr Aida selak Mommy's shirt.. hooh!!! my reddish tummy appeared. "so gatal la doctor.." i complained. she suggested to put toner on it. it acts as coolant. hm.. but i haven't put it yet. lately my tummy's getting itchy and itchy. it started on the first day of Ramadhan. i think it's because of our limited water intake for one whole day. then makes my skin dehydrates. but again, thanks to Bio-Oil. it helps very much in re-hydrating my skin and reduce the itchiness!

this week, Mommy gain 1kg from last 2 weeks, making my weight now is 56kg. and your weight is 2.5 kg. a big boy now huh... and you really like to show you 'boy' lately. shuda tidak malu yar.... and now you are in the right position, with your head down (it was since the last 2 months, alhamdulillah). Dr Aida said, how if i'm going into labour during Aidilfitri? wow, that's what i really want!

it's only 3 weeks left (if only we manage to reach our EDD). this makes Mommy reminiscing my very first day welcomed you in my tummy. i couldn't blog much, typing 2-3 words made me dizzy and drowsy. i even couldn't sit on this very chair. i need to lay down all the time. even when Abi wanted to cut my hair, i couldn't stand it. only a few cm then i told Abi to stop. i need to lay my body down! and we had to postpone our trip to Brunei several times. i threw almost all meals out! until we found out that i only could go on with western food :) i slept in office's surau everyday. i couldn't wear proper shirt at home. i didn't do house chores for months. etc. etc.

i really enjoy this pregnancy. even if sometimes it is painful, tiring, boring... but it is a great pleasure when i realize that here is someone in my belly. it's you. mine and Abi's blood.

No More Pain!

i got 3 days MC. initially it was because of severe backache and contraction i was having almost everynight and morning. last time i was told by Dr Aida that i was experiencing pelvic joint soften, or stretching. she offers me physiotherapy sessions if the pain is still there. so , we went again to the clinic, intended to do the physiotherapy.

Dr Aida asked me about the pain. where dis it started, how was it felt, etc. she asked me to lay on my back and lifted my leg 90degrees... no pain at all. she said, "this is not because of your pelvic joint. it must be something else". she asked Monica, her nurse to check my urine... and..

"i suspect this is kencing kotor (urinary tract infection)"

OMG...

it is a common disease during pregnancy, coz the uterus sits on the top of my bladder, and as the uterus grows, the weight can block the drainage of urine from bladder, causing infection. i had these symptoms but i tot they were just normal with regards to pregnancy:-
  • frequent urination - common thing during pregnancy, right?
  • feeling of urgency when you urinate
  • cramps or pain in the lower abdomen - ... i tot it was contraction
  • waking up from sleep to urinate - everynite
  • change in amount of urine, either more or less - lesser recently
  • urine looks cloudy, smells foul or unusually strong
lucky i referred immediately to Dr Aida, not taking it as something 'common'. if the infection is untreated, it may lead to kidney infection, and may cause early labour & low birth weight. but hey, now is not early anymore and your weight ain't low!

Dr Aida gave me antibiotic to consume. it is soluble type to have together with water. the blue one to consume immediately and for one time only and the green one to be taken 3 times a day. i like the taste, the blue one tastes like limau bali & the green one tastes like ENO :P actually, this served me right coz i refused to take plenty of water recently. so leceh to go in and out the toilet.

Dr Aida gave me 48 hours to be back to normal (no more pain) or else, she's gonna diagnosis me for kidney problem. and full lists of do's and dont's.

the DO's
  • drink plenty of water
  • urinate often
  • take vitamin C
  • change inderwear everyday
  • empty bladder immeadiately after sex
  • take shower
  • change pantiliner often

the DONT's
  • consume refined food, caffeine, sugar
  • soak in bath tub
  • using feminine hygene
alhamdulillah. last nite i consumed 3L of mineral water, and i could sleep without any pain on my back and abdomen. yo Mommy! don't ever ignore your water intake!

lucky i have this at my 35th week. if it was earlier, i must be in deep worry.
__________________

tomorrow, we're gonna start our very first day of Ramadhan. and tomorrow is Abi's birthday. hmm, any suggestion to surprise Abi?

At 33 Weeks

a week before officially entering 8 month. oh God.. only 7 weeks to EDD and 4 weeks to full term! but i still can't answer if people ask about "how do you feel?". to be frank, i like to have you in my tummy, cos i can carry you to everywhere & anywhere. huhu. once you're born, i have to think of "to whom should i leave this boy?" & for sure i'm gonna miss you so much!

we started our once a-2-week prenatal visit now. what i like about prenatal visit is, beside i can check my maternal condition, i also can see you through the sonogram. and what i love the most is, seeing you heart beating. whether you're moving or not, when looking at your heartbeat, and it's four rooms, i feel calm. that's mean you are very OK. and i can see your perfectly formed limbs. and FYI,i never undergo ultrasound just to check your gender!

so what is happening this week?

this very week, your head cross-section is 8.2cm. perfect. it's in the red circle. and in its position already. please.. please.. please don't turn OK my dear... good boy have to listen to Mommy OK? the image quality is very poor. using my 2.0megapixel cameraphone on a printed paper ... what d ya expect?

as usual, you like to put your hand on your forehead. red circle=your fingers; green circle=your head. dr aida said "baby you suka berfikir ni". hmm, just like Abi, kan? you're really Abi's boy la. if only we can have the 3d scan....

this time, you showed your ball & peanut. very the big OK! & the doctor printed it out (she's very excited), but mommy don't want to put it here. maluuuuu~~~.

my weight chart. i gained 2kg in 2 weeks! i should gain 1kg per 2 weeks instead! gosh! my eating habit is as usual (before pregnant). my appetite doesn't increase nor decrease but my weight keep on climbing to the summit! i have another 4kg to be gained but it's 7 weeks remaining! arrghhhh!

my belly is really big. and heavy. i think it's expanding day by day. however, the doctor still doesn't wanna reveal your weight until the 34th week. saba je la...

*this is absolutely not my belly!
i got stretch marks! demn... i applied oil-based (i.e. baby oil & olive oil) & cocoa butter stretch marks lotion since you were 2 months in my womb. but i still have this #&*&*@&#@#$ mark! how i expected my belly skin is elastic! grrr... i am in the lowest point of my bad mood today since i discovered the 'rashes' i had below my belly button is actually the stretch marks! arghhh!!!! i took pictures, saw it in the mirror and touched the broken epidermis while weeping on this bloody thing! my epidermis has torn! i'm gonna have an ugly belly! hwaaaa!!!

last nite mommy noticed that you started to kick on my ribs. then you like to place your feet on it. it's a bit disturbing (time mommy nak tido la awak tendang2) but it's OK. at least it's better than when you slept the whole day, yesterday. so boring OK! how could you left mommy talking to myself while you were soundly landing on your slumberland.

now i get used to my braxton hicks. it's a bit frequent but not that disturbing as before. and you make lots of movement, maybe bcos of this week is the best place along this journey, since the amniotic fluid it at its highest level. so you have more cushioned effect to bump on my tummy.

sometimes i feel my back ache, but it's over when i change my posture. and i become a bit plump. is it because of my fat or edema, im not sure. but it's not obvious la. my friends say all my weight goes to my belly. and aunt wani's advise really works!- bengkok kaki masa geliat. say no to leg cramp!

dear God, please get this stretch marks out of my belly...!

6th Month Check Up

we were very excited to see our baby (it's you!). wanna see his face, and how is he doing. before we saw dr aida, mommy kept on telling you to wake up and show your face. and seemed like you were listening.

o yes, we met your friend at the clinic. she'll be born maybe somewhere in january, and she's our new neighbor! you two may be good friends then.

after donating a portion of my urine, we went in to see dr aida. she asked me whether i have any problem, and i said it's just my SoB. she said it's OK, it'll be OK in the next 10 weeks. huh, sabar aje lah....

after getting my BP reading (it was normal), as usual we went to the couch for ultrasound. she firstly used the 2d one, but we (mommy & abi) couldn't see you. dr aida kept on explaining, this is your head, this is your leg, but.. either the doc's screen was blur or ourselves... then after measuring your head's size (which is normal :)), she changed the probe into 4d, and these are what we got...

1. you turned you face, covered it by your hands and kept you legs close. we could only see this. the doctor tried from the different side of my tummy but you still ran from the probe.

dr aida commented "baby u ni aktif betol. rasa dia gerak2 kan?"

i nodded.

and this is the best she could snap.

2. the doctor keep on calling you "baby, baby pandanglah sini. baby jgnla nyorok.."

finally you moved you hands from your face. but still didn't turn...

3. after several attempts, the results were still the same. until dr aida said "baby u ni bijak sungguh. bijak betul ni. takmo kasik kita tgk muka dia. kaki pn dia rapat2kan dah".

and finally... you turn your body completely to the other side. tunjuk bontot pulak dah..

and abi said "kecik2 dah pandai buli abi yer..."

heheh. and hmmm... from these... whose face are you i inheriting? i said it's abi's but abi said it's mine. ah, whatever la, but you are sooo handsome!

even if we couldn't see your face clearly, but mommy feel so proud of you. the doctor gave you some credit! i told abi, it's ok if he doesn't want to reveal his face, of course after you are born, you have no chance to hide it anymore :P

You Today

it's been a month since our last visit to dr aida's clinic. last time via 3d scan we couldn't see your face clearly cos you were hiding behind the placenta. hopefully you won't be that mean tomorrow.

you're 6 month now. and your behavior become more consistent than before. now mommy can read your sleep time and your happy time. usually your routine (up to now):-
early morning
- wake mommy up. then continue sleeping.

mommy at work
- sleep and sleep until mommy have discussion or meeting. u'll join the discussion very excitedly.
- playing football the whole session.

evening
- play football until mommy go to bed.

nite
-sleep together with mommy & abi until the next morning to wake mommy up.
what excites me is, you really love to join any discussion i attend (maybe it just the time you become very active :P). abi said maybe you wanted to be a CEO someday :) anyway, your activity hinders me from sleeping in the meeting :P

mommy can see, since last month, your behavior is more or less like your abi. abi, when i ask for something, he'll buat don-no, until when i stop asking, then the starts to offer. hmm... and you.. when mommy call your name "H****....H****....." you don't respond. but when mommy buat don-no, who'll kick, punch, roll, etc.etc., but again during the extreme session if mommy call your name, you'll stop. hmm... like to play-play ek... mommy rotan-rotan nanti...

however, mommy really love this experience. everymorning, my tummy will be seen bigger at one side. and you like to kick the left side of my tummy, if not my lower ribs. and when you kick & punch at the same time making me feel like my tummy is going to explode. and when you roll, i feel soooo geli-geli. and my tummy is getting bigger day by day. during the 1st trimester it was seemed like months to see my tummy become big.

now i become fatigue, and very easy to get tired. it's different than during we entered the 2nd trimester where i felt a bit more energetic. maybe this just the transition, of preparation for us to enter 3rd trimester in the next 4 weeks. i guess the honeymoon period is about to get over...

nonetheless, i feel so proud of you. you don't cause me backache, or any ache over my body, i don't have health problem (except the sob, but i already have it long ago) i can walk like usual, even my body maintains its shape (except at the tummy part, tight, bum & boops).

so my good boy, just give mommy chance to sleep soundly tonight, don't be like last nite ok...

Pregnancy Worries

since the first day i notice that i am carrying you, i can't stop myself from worrying. yeah, pregnancy is a natural journey, and not all journey end up you reach the destination.

1ST TRIMESTER WORRIES:
1. ectopic pregnancy - the implantation occurs at fallopian tube instead of in the uterus.
2. missed miscarriage - when embryo stops growing but the pregnancy goes on. the baby dies however it still remain in the uterus. no bleeding & pregnancy symptoms still on. the embryo may shrink gradually. and the doctor would notice thru ultrasound, no heartbeat and embryo is smaller than is should be.
3. chemical pregnancy - embryo dies right after conception. caused by chromosome abnormality and hormone insufficiency. usually moms get +ve result of UPT test however it changes to -ve after several days.

2ND TRIMESTER WORRIES:
1. still have chances of miscarriage - about 20% of miscarriage occurs during second trimester as result of anomaly in the uterus such as incompetent cervix or placenta.
2. early labor due to incompetent cervix.
3. premature placenta abruption. where placenta disattach from uterus prematurely.
4. pre-eclampsia, caused by defect of placenta.
5. insufficient or too much amniotic fluid.
*the youngest baby alive recorded is a girl born at her 22nd week. however medical practitioners get confidence that fetus at 24weeks onward may alive under observation. the record made in the US, not in Malaysia.

3RD TRIMESTER WORRIES:
1. bleeding which due to abruption placenta.
2. preterm labour.
3. post term.
4. IUGR or fetal growth retardation, where the fetus stops growing at certain week (before 36th) and have to go operation immediately.
5. hypertension.
6. diabetes.

there might be several more, but i am too scare to know about them. to overcome those worries, i keep on thinking positively, and imagine that you are in my arms, stay here safe and sound.

my dear, we have passed the first trimester beautifully, and at the middle of second trimester. lets' pray together so that Allah will take care of us, especially you since i can't see you with my eyes, only with my heart. take care of yourself eh!

Detail Scan

when we went for detail scanning yesterday, you weren't that active as the day before. i was told that during the 5th month, detail scanning will be done to check your internal major organs such as brain, heart, kidneys, spine... your fingers as well as your sex!

your brain shows a normal progress, your heart has 4 rooms, your spine is normal, your have 10 little fingers.. and everything is normal. syukur... however the doctor couldn't see your kidney. she said maybe you just pee-pee.

when dr aida asked me about " do you wanna know your baby's gender?" i looked at abi with my eyes gestured "do you?" abi said that it was me who wanna know the sex of baby i am carrying. then i told dr aida, yes. then the news rejoiced me. you are 99% a boy!

we were the most happiest parents to hear the news. even of there was still 1% of uncertainty but yeah since this is Allah's work so we left it to Him. however the first impression was really impress us.

today, you didn't kick very much, just rolling and changing position. i tot maybe you were tired cos you haven't take any rest since our journey from KL. okla.. sleep well my little boy... :)

Backpain!

i would consider myself lucky for not having severe backpain throughout this journey (at least so far) carrying you. but i had it once after 8-hours bus ride from KB to KL last week, for the whole day i can't sit and sleep properly, having a damn cracking backpain. other than that, i am OK.

this is not uncommon for about 5 to 7 mommies out of 10 will have severe backpain during pregnancy. and the period range varies from mom to mom, some have it throughout the pregnancy, some have it starting from 2nd trimester and some have it during the 3rd trimester. the contributing factors are varies, depending on the mommies' health, weight, lifesyle, etc.

since only during pregnancy mommies having this, i would expect it is because of these:
  • hormonal change - during pregnancy a hormone releases from lower ligamen at the pelvic area to allow it soften and loosen the join to prepare for the birth.
  • changing posture - as the baby grows, the centre of gravity of mom's body moves to the other point.
  • more weight - mom's back has to support more weight as the baby grows (and mom's too!).
  • stress.
avoiding backpain.. actually i never plan to avoid since i was made to know that backpain is common after the morning sickness attack to i made myself ready. however, i'm still finding the best way to minimize the attack by:
  • taking calcium.
  • get enough rest and sleep.
  • say no to heels.
  • don't think about this discomfort, enjoy playing with the moving you!
last week when i had it after the bus ride, i just used hot oil and asked abi to do a tender massage on my back and lay down on my side to avoid weight on my backside. well it was only for a day and i woke up the next morning with no more pain!

i hope the other mommies will be OK handling their discomfort and they would know it is just a normal backpain or rhymatic cramping pain that might be sign for preterm labour!
