Frequent Traveller

are you in Miri or KL? are the FAQ nowadays. this is how we run our life since four months ago, when i accepted the offer to involve in a project which requires me to be in KL.

it was fun travelling, until we are entering this very third trimester, it sometimes very tiring. since i was pregnant, i have to take a day of sick leave after touching down LL because it's so exhausting after that 2.5 hours flying.

and with this i-cant-stop-myself Hafiy, oh you bet how fatigue i could be. during our flight to Miri last time, he refused to sit and i have to follow him all the time, running here and there along the narrow plane's isle. it was night flight so i have to watch him all the time or he would disturb other's sleep when he liked to touch and say hi to those passengers.

but this never be a reason for me to leave him anymore :) i just want my babies to be with me all the time rather than feeling regret like in my previous trip.

if possible, i want to get excuse from attending next week's meeting and training but it's my responsibility to be there since i am the representative for my office. and i have no reason to not attending it just because i am pregnant.

i don't know how people see someone like me coping with our life. i don't have much choice or be demanding because i am very new in this field (yes boss?) and most importantly i need a job to help Abiy raising our family. makan gaji macam ni lah.

i hope this will grow myself and my kids to be tougher because they are different than other kids who are comfortably stationed in their own crib while my kids have to follow the world demand. even if i am not on this nature of job attachment, they will also have to fly with me because i am breastfeeding them (if i could find a good babysitter).

when will all this things ends because i am very tired. i want to live as a normal mother and wife in one house with my family.. [macamlah Mami sorang dlm Malaysia yang kena travel & be a monthly wife :P].

(Abiy might not agree with this writing but just take this as the third trimester blues).

On Daily Trip - Being Preggy is Not A Limit

it has been a week with no new entry from Mommy.

it was a long, busy week. meddlesome office jobs, and dealing with early pregnancy fatigue, i need more sleep!

when i decided to make a daytrip to KL on 4th July, it was somehow brought up debates, among my friends and even Abiy. Abiy suggested to sleep over, but i said, it makes no difference if i sleep over, or come back and sleep at home. if it is at the middle of the week, yes i might sleep over, but since it is Friday, then i have long hours to rest, on my own bed.

it has been a popular taboo since ever, about normal activities a preggy lady shouldn't do. one of it was flying during pregnancy. i've been to many discussion forums, and the most popular question was "can i fly while pregnant?". the answer is, definitely YES.

actually there were some studies done to justify whether a preggy lady is safe travelling via air or not. and the result was, during 1st trimester, most of the subjects went to miscarriage, due to:-
- on air travel
- radiation

however, it wasn't caused by the air travel alone, but the subjects (the flight attendances) are those who works for many hours, and taking long hours flight.

by right, travelling by air during pregnancy is perfectly safe. however, 2nd trimester is the best time, since it is a honeymoon period for most moms-to-be, and there's no risk for miscarriage or preterm labour. somehow, other than dealing with risks to miscarriage and preterm labor, it's also about comfortability. during 1st trimester, usually associate with morning sickness, so it's not advisable for a MTB to travel. and on discomfort during late pregnancy, a MTB should stay on the ground.

my flight was at 0620hrs to KL and 2040hrs back to Miri.

since it was a daytrip, i just brought my backpack and my f2go. the 2.5hours flight was a tiring. oh, even 30mins flight is tiring due to the ungrounded ion our body receives. how to reduce this? i touch the plane's body as i get our of it, before go into the terminal.

i pump 3 times, 2 times at KLCC (thanks to Aunty Zu) and another one at KLIA nursing room. oh sungguh tak selesa sebab mamat2 Bangla keluar masuk the room. i dunno what's on earth they were doing in the room. but since they didn't disturb me, so i just ignore je la.

the do's to travel during pregnancy:
1. consult with the gynae - to ensure you fly with no risk
2. ask for front seat - easy to get in and out
3. get enough rest - before, during & after
4. bring your own food for morning sickness

the dont's:
1. fly on long hours - you might extremely tired
2. high altitude, non pressurised flight - the pressure may cause the oxygen supply to your body, and your baby

additional infos:
1. airport security x-ray scanner is safe
2. EBM (liquid or frozen) is a CAN for domestic flight

tips for a daytrip MTB:
1. manage the time wisely so you won't be in hurry
2. choose good transportation to take you to the airport so that you can rest
3. make sure you'll have time to rest after the flight
4. bring 'mini 1st aid' like balm, minyak panas along
5. keep a pack of cracker & a bottle of water in your bag
6. free yourself from worry

you should not worry too much about your body and baby during pregnancy. a study from a baby charity shows that 90% of preggy moms who let themselves worry too much cause their pregnancy to be affected. being pregnant doesn't require you to stay at home and stop all activities (unless you're dealing with pregnancy discomfort, risk, or advised by your gynae).

don't take pregnancy as a limit. it's a joyful moment!

Bye Bye Miri....

my 36++ weeks belly.

today is our last day in Miri. my last day at work.. i would say, hectic & a bit tense.the project i am handling suddenly came into chaos when we have to do the tendering ourselves instead, before this we agreed to source it out to other region. and my boss insisted me to do a presentation in management committee meeting next monday. i said, sorry boss. after all, this is my final week to get rid of these. but, still happy. i'm leaving for a long vacation after all :)

today we had visitors, uncle Wan Hidayat came to my office & dropped by my workstation to say hello. he had a presentation in the auditorium. hehe. cool presenter, huh? Cik Adda also visited us this morning, and she gave this lovely socks to you :)

thanks Cik Adda!

we left the office a bit late since Abi had a meeting with the GM. so, when will Abi be a GM? hm, i hope he's gonna be one, but at other company la. hehe. we bought ikan terubuk masin to bring back. so expensive!!! they said the fish is pupus currently. RM12 for two, instead of RM10 for three.

we don't have much things to bring onboard. just my & Abi's wardrobe, plus some little things of yours. most importantly, these document those should not be forgotten.

CW: the ticket, the antenatal record or red card, the passport.

some friends asked me about air travel. the FAQ are "isn't it only at 7months you are allowed to travel by plane?" "still can travel by plane with this big tummy?" "how can you travel by plane, you're heavily pregnant?" and many more.

actually, air travel is usually completely safe for pregnant women, as long as there are no complications with the pregnancy and not flying too close to the due date. after all, our flight is not that long. as per 2nd trimester is honeymoon phase, so it is the safest time to travel by air. at 1st trimester, the risk of miscarriage increases and at 3rd trimester, increasing the risk of early labor. however, normal practice for Malaysia Airlines, from 28 to 36 week, a doctor's letter is required to state that i am fit for air travel :) so, after 7 months still can fly, with a letter form doctor.

the letter.

i miss Abi already.... we have only a week to spend with him, and later for almost 3 months.. it's only you & i. i really want to make this coming week the most memorable moment for us, before your arrival. and when we get together with Abi again, everything would be different. we are parents sooner!

KK Trip and Abi's Leaving

early this week mommy got an invitation (invitation? should be an assignment) to attend a meeting at Kota Kinabalu. it'a a meeting to gather my counterparts from Kerteh & Kota Kinabalu and i in order to discuss further about our regional projects.

with this heavily pregnant tummy, everybody was worried when i said that i'm going to KK before the weekend. "you can fly ah?", "you shouldn't fly in this condition", "how many months are you?" etc were the common questions and opinion. hehe.

to make everybody happy (especially the airline company) i rushed to the clinic a day before the trip, taking a letter from Dr. Aida, ensuring that i still can fly. anyway we were there to check my continuous painful-braxton hicks (it was very painful especially at night and made me feel so uneasy of having early delivery), the doctor was a bit worry and she said if the pain is still and intense, please rush to the hospital. however, after the meeting (actually only a telecon, the doctor had already go out for lunch), i could feel no more pain. hmm.. maybe you just miss dr aida or just mengada2..

that night, abi cook for us. a very special nasi goreng. actually i love abi's cooking, especially his nasi goreng. very cukup-rasa, its salty, spicy, creamy, :D he made it with love.

yummy2~~

flight from Miri to KK is limited, only 2 trip per day, early morning and at night. i took night flight cos had something to do in the office. the meeting started that night but unfortunately i couldn't make it earlier.

for the first time i need a letter to fly, beside my passport and ticket.

i was accompanied by kak syikin (not sure whether she is a 'Kak' or just my age, but i like to call her kak syikin :P) we reached at KK Airport at 9.55pm, the rushed to sutera harbour. we were late for that session's meeting. then we just lepak2 in our room, sooo very the penat!

L-R: somebody is sleeping soundly inside. our room at Pacific Sutera.

i dunno what time we were able to close our eyes. and you were not very active, maybe because of the journey. and the tiredness gave me a very bad dream. then woke up late for the next's morning meeting :P

because of the limited flight, we have to cut short our discussion. a-day-long to 3-hour-long. how efficient. actually, it was a great pleasure, giving us time to go shopping!

L-R: dry food at the pasar beside Filipino Market (the gantung2 one are gamat kering. Uncle Tuk holding a gamat.

wished to have a walk throughout the resort, but i had to surrender to my exhaustiveness. after having lunch, i slept like a log in the surau. only woke up 2 hours before our flight to Miri. this time i was with Auntie Ola. refreshed ourselves, then we rushed to the airport, prayed for no flight delay.

bad weather on the way, making the plane in turbulence. that was my first time experiencing such that jumping-jumping thing while flying. everybody screamed and i was thinking about 'we are we now? on land or offshore?'.

finally we reached Miri Airport on time. abi fetched us. this could be the last time i carry you to KK.

actually, there's another story. abi's going to KL for a week. he'll fly this Sunday and comes back next Sunday.

i tried to apply for a-week course at KL, so that we can follow Abi. last Tuesday, i already got a confirmation email from the organizer, telling that my participation has been confirmed. great news! suddenly we had many plans in our head, about spending time at KL. but it wasn't long, half an hour later, i got a call from HR saying that there's misunderstanding between them. and followed by another email 'Replaced by Another Person'. this is what orang kampung say 'buang karan'. they just surprised me with good news and shocked me by bad news not more than an hour.

that's mean, we have to stay ALONE for a week. some friends of mine suggested me to follow Abi to KL. it's something impossible for us. if the tambang is RM100 return for sure i'll follow but ours one, RM1000 return! with the money we can buy the best cot form overseas for you.

son, don't be naughty OK. when abi's not around, nobody's looking after us. we have to look after each other, tau!

everything would be fine, insya-Allah. even my painful braxton hicks now disappear. Abi said, you're not going to come out very soon (even if we are approaching the 8th month), you are very smart to wait for 13th october to leave mommy's womb. so, Abi's son have to listen to Abi, tau!
